When war came to Ukraine, Young Dasha fled for Germany. There she lives in a state of limbo, suspended between hope and the constant worry about her mother, who remained in Ukraine. Occasional phone calls to her mother bring some comfort, but waiting for the war to end takes its toll on Dasha.

UNDER SAFE SKIES explores what it means to be young and alone in a safe country while war rages at home and relatives and friends are in danger. For a whole year, Duc Huy Luu followed Dasha with his camera, finding powerful images that capture her between moments of stability and turmoil.

BIOGRAPHY
Duc Huy Luu was born in the year 2000. Since 2022 he is studying at the University for Television and Film Munich.
