When at the end of 1970 a workers’ uprising accompanied by strikes and mass rallies breaks out in several cities of communist Poland, the government convenes a crisis committee to regain control of the situation. Previously unpublished telephone recordings reveal how the uprising developed from the point of view of the military and those in power, and how it finally came to the fatal firing order on its own population.

The haunting and compellingly narrated testimony 1970 illuminates the view of the rulers rather than the demonstrators. A film that unfolds through audio documents and the interweaving of archival footage and animated puppet film.
