BALCONY TALES

BALCONY TALES

Helle Windeløv-Lidzélius | Cuba, Denmark 2013 | 36 Min. | OmeU

In a dilapidated and rough neighbourhood in Havana an old blind man perceives life from his beloved balcony. From his both private and public platform he stays in close contact with the surrounding world, following the pulse and each breath from the neighbours and the people passing by. In this colourful Cuban capital the balcony is a micro cosmos full of life and death: The countless balconies in the city play a vital role in the lives of the inhabitants; this is where they live, where they love and mourn, buy and sell, gossip and yell, laugh and cry. In Havana each balcony has its own soul, its own magic and its own tales to tell about the people living on them.
