Playing with Fire tells the story of creating theatre in an Islamic country like Afghanistan focusing on a group of young women who have the courage to be involved with the theatre arts. The film shows that theatre one day was thriving in Kabul. But today, being an actress is dangerous and has even recently caused a girl’s death. Anneta Papathanassiou, actress and director from Greece, visits Kabul on an invitation to teach ancient Greek drama and looks at the lives of young Afghan artists, who try to combine art and culture under very difficult circumstances in this troubled country.
