SON OF THE STREETS

SON OF THE STREETS

Mohammed Almughanni | Palestine, Lebanon 2020 | 32 Min. | OmeU

Khodor’s parents are both dead, so he is raised by his stepmother. The 13-year-old is calm and collected in front of his friends, but his new family often feels his pent-up teenage aggression. Even while they try to issue an ID document for him that proves his existence and gives him the right to education, healthcare, and movement outside the Palestinian refugee camp of Shatila in Beirut, Lebanon.

SON OF THE STREETS describes how hopelessness paired with the energy of adolescence discharges into aggression and despair because the dream of a self-determined life is still a long way off.
