ETHNOCINECA 2012

In the year 2012 the ETHNOCINECA will proceed as usual after a smaller version in 2011, where the results of the project workshop where presented in a well-filled Schikaneder. From 22 - 25 May 2012 we will show ethnographic as well as documentary films in two venues. The submissions promise an interesting program with varying focuses, which we want to highlight within aspects of cultural and social anthropology.

The 2012 curation will be taken over by Dr. Ulrike Davis-Sulikowski (Cultural and Social Anthropologist), Aylin Basaran, M.A. und Klaudija Sabo, M.A. (Institute for Contemporary History). This interdisciplinarity promises new perspectives for both the program selection and  presentation. As usual, in 2012 we will have a general schedule for the screenings that will be released together with the program.

Our team has also changed since 2011. These introductions as well as short profiles including contact information of the staff can be found here.

For some time now we've had a presence on Facebook, and more recently on Twitter! Come join us!

CALL FOR FILMS

The Call for Films has ended on 15th January 2012.

A big THANK YOU for about 240 exciting submissions!

ABOUT THE ETHNOCINECA

ETHNOCINECA is a cultural and social anthropological film festival, whose areas of expertise extend to three levels:

  1. ETHNOCINECA wants to offer people who engage socio – cultural topics through film, video, photography or other interactive media room and time for presentation, discussion and reflection.
  2. Experiences, access and presentation of these media works are furthermore discussed and reflected upon together with scientists, academics, freelance filmmakers and the protagonists themselves.
  3. ETHNOCINECA offers a learning platform in the form of workshops. Those should enable everyone to acquire audio-visual techniques and forms of expression in order to understand, reproduce and show ideas, perspectives and perceptions in a bigger social context.

Therefore ETHNOCINECA presents itself as a platform for participatory, inter – cultural knowledge transfer and knowledge production in the field of audio – visual media.
