On a trip to Bosnia, Stefan Pavlović meets the fisherman Zdravko by coincidence. Zdravko has lived a lonesome and secluded life on an island since he almost completely lost his hearing during the Yugoslav wars. Pavlović is the son of Bosnian parents but has largely forgotten his mother tongue. To make matters more difficult, he stutters. Despite their language and hearing difficulties, a friendship develops between the young filmmaker and the veteran, who shares with him his world of the lake filled with big catfish, wild horses, ample silence, and dangerous thunderstorms.

LOOKING FOR HORSES is a film about an unusual friendship, coming to terms with the past and the search for new ways of communication.
