RWANDA, LA VIE APRÈS – PAROLES DE MÈRES

RWANDA, LA VIE APRÈS – PAROLES DE MÈRES

Benoit Dervaux, André Versaille | Belgium 2014 | 72 Min. | OmeU

The genocide in Rwanda began in April 1994 and ended in July 1994. During three months about one million people, most Tutsi, were killed, not to mention the thousands of raped or injured victims left behind. 20 years later, Benoit Dervaux andAndré Versaillemet 6 Tutsi women, survivors of the massacres. One by one, they tell their horrible stories, their suffering, their ordeal. The youngest of them was barely 16 when several men attacked her. What these women have suffered is beyond imagination and time has not healed any wounds. All 6 women got pregnant by their rapists, some were even infected with HIV. 20 years later those kids – now being adults themselves – report about the difficulties with learning to accept themselves, to have a social life, to live at all. Just as their mothers did. Rwanda, la vie après – Paroles de mères is a overwhelming, intensive interview-based documentary.
