Hybridfestival 2021

ETHNOCINECA 2021 HYBRID FESTIVAL

INTENDED AND CANCELLED

Originally planned as a hybrid festival, the 15th anniversary edition of the ethnocineca – International Documentary Film Festival Vienna, which will now take place as ONLINE EDITION from 6 to 13 May 2021, was scheduled to take place both online and in the cinema halls of the Votiv Kino and the Kino de France. The originally intended film programme of ethnocineca 2021 included 52 films from 46 countries. Among the 52 films selected for the Hybrid Festival, 26 were by women directors. In addition to the cinema experience, we planned to repeat a selection of the film programme online. The films were to be accompanied by an extensive online side programme, which should also have taken place in the cinema and online via live-streams, as well as the presentation of five awards. The entire side programme as well as the award ceremony will now take place exclusively online. Furthermore, to celebrate the 15th anniversary, we wanted to organise a network meeting with CAFFE – Coordinating Anthropological Film Festivals in Europe, of which ethnocineca is a member, during the festival week.

Due to the current regulations on Covid-19, the originally planned hybrid festival at the cinema, the programme of which you can see here, had to be cancelled.

We look forward to welcoming you to the ONLINE EDITION instead.
