Klebrige Rückstände, Staub, der Widerhall von Stille. Zwei verlassene Standorte kolonialer Archive – das Nigerian Film Unit in Lagos,Teil des sogenannten Colonial Film Unit (1932–1955) und das ehemalige Empire and Commonwealth Museum in Bristol (2002–2009),das Fotografien, Filme und Objekte quer durch das Britische Imperium (ver)sammelte. Die zerfallenden Depots und Innenräume spiegelndie heimgesuchten Bilder und ihnen eingeschriebene Schatten sowie die Schwere der sie umgebenden Stille. Onyeka Igwe befragt die(Aus-)Lagerung von Material und Erinnerung und beatmet die Räume dabei mit Sounds, Echos und Stimmen, die in aufwirbelndenBewegungen widerständige Narrative zum Vorschein bringen.

BIOGRAPHY
Onyeka Igwe is an artist and researcher working between cinema and installation, born and based in London, UK. Through her work, Onyeka is animated by the question—How do we live together?—with particular interest in how the sensorial, spatial, and noncanonical ways of knowing can provide answers to this question. Her works have been shown in the UK and internationally at film festivals and galleries. She was awarded the New Cinema Award at Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival 2019, the 2020 Arts Foundation Futures Award for Experimental Short Film, and the 2021 Foundwork Artist Prize, and was nominated for the Jarman Award 2022.
