TASTE OF HOPE

TASTE OF HOPE

Laura Coppens | France, Switzerland 2019 | 70 Min. | OmeU

In 2010 Unilever announced the closing of a tea factory in Southern France. After three years of fierce resistance the workers finally succeeded. Instead of losing their jobs they became the owners of the plant. But the self-organised tea factory is facing massive financial problems, outdated marketing strategies that are always accompanied with differences in opinion. Can such an alternative organisation survive on the competitive free market?
Taste of Hope tells the story of a workers-cooperation on their rocky way to an utopia that could become reality.
